The Peter Evans Quartet's first recording as a leader, featuring a combination of influences from recorded Jazz of the 50's and 60's, abrasive noise music, and wild and kinetic free improvisation. The compositions are made up of harmonic material lifted directly out of standards, with layers of melody and noise piled on top. The collective and individual improvisation on the material provided constitutes a second layer of tension. Peter Evans is a technically gifted trumpeter, who released his first album with a band consisting of Brandon Seabrook on guitar, Tom Blancarte on bass, and Kevin Shea on drums.

Bluiett Baritone Nation's 'Libation For The Baritone Saxophone Nation' is a celebration of the power generated by a baritone sax quartet. The concert recording features Hamiet Bluiett, James Carter, Patience Higgins, and Alex Harding on reed instruments, along with percussionist Ronnie Burrage. The music swings, shouts, and swaggers from the bottom on up, with dense harmonies and high-spirited improvisations. Recorded by La Chaîne culturelle de Radio-Canada for 'Silence on jazz' at the 1997 Montreal International Jazz Festival.
